The clock turns forward and can not be stopped. Time raveges not only our bones and being but the physical representation of our memories as well.
Some media is more resilient to the ravages of time than others. For example, Kodachrome film dyes fade at an even rate so that there is little to no color hue that appears with time. However, Ekctachrome dyes fade unevenly with the result that over a period of 30 or more years, there is a reddish hue that overshadows the color image. This effect is seen on other types of media as well.
Consider the example shown in this blog post. These are scans of color print film that have aged about five or six decades. The loss of color detail is plain to see in the original scan. However, because the rate of color fading is consistent in various media, it is possible for effective color correction by machine in an automated fashion.
At W. Cardone Productions, we make this technology available to our clients on a complimentary basis. While a human eye will see the application of our color correction, the process is largely automated and transparent.
